Rememberin 9/11

Where was I September 11th? I was working at a child care center. I was the lead teacher of the 2 year olds. During the day we were allowed to listen to the radio, as long as it was classical music. I remember the news break saying a plane had just hit a tower in NYC, and shortly after the second one hit, the people on the radio had a bit of panic in their voice.

Soon all the workers in the center were talking about it, and parents were calling. I was beginning to get scared, but my son was with me, there at the center, but part of me wanted to take him home and be with my husband. Within an hour about 1/3 of the kiddos were picked up from school.

I really thought it was going to be a war, that we were being attacked. I watched the news every waking moment at home and had an unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was so sad for the people I was watching on television...I remember crying...alot.

That day after the news broke I talked to my mom and my grandma. Everyone was in kind of a "quiet" panic, not knowing or understanding what just went on and if it was the beginning something bigger or the end.

Let's Do It!
